Can the Chromebook do for Google what the iPad did for Apple?

SYDNEY, Australia (November 16, 2011) – In the next few weeks, Google Australia will release the Google Chromebook, a stateless device which enables instant on web computing with no software to manage, no backup required, with a form factor similar to a notebook and a price point expected to be less than a new mobile phone.

Ben Granger-Holcombe, Director for Cloud Adapt said: “The interest from our clients is amazing, they are eagerly anticipating what the Google Chromebook can do for their companies. It is very exciting assisting them in the transformation from in-house I.T. to the Cloud”

Cloud computing has the potential to move services such as email, office productivity and file storage to organisations that can deliver these capabilities at scale and at a cost that is impossible to match internally. When coupled with the price point of new devices such as the Chromebook, the economics of Cloud Computing are becoming impossible to ignore.

Andy Rootes, Sales Manager for Cloud Adapt states “The question I have, is whether Chromebook will drive the demand that iPad did for Apple. When I look at how I use my iPad, I rarely use the storage within it, and primarily use it to access my Cloud based applications. The difference is that I could buy at least two Chromebooks for the price of my iPad. If enterprise organisations understand the benefits the Chromebook can bring to their organisations, I believe the demand will be enormous”.

Mr Rootes goes on to state, “We are very excited by the efficiencies Chromebook presents in complimenting the savings we can already demonstrate with Cloud based applications. When you compare the average usage of a Notebook; for day-to-day use, 80% of users in an organisation could replace their Notebook with a Chromebook to meet their application needs.”

Cloud Adapt is so confident Cloud Computing will provide real business benefits, that all consulting engagements are backed by a 30% cost savings guarantee; stating that if they cannot remove more than 30% cost against the otherwise spend in the areas they study, then there is no charge for their report.
